Inside AAP
What your annual subscription licenses.
An AAP subscription licenses the OUBAS digital publication set, continuing-education and research material, and an annual digital subscription certificate. Included with that licence, at no extra charge, are eight dedicated professional-exchange areas described below.
Section 01
Professional Directory
An optional directory of AAP subscribers who choose to be listed, helping African professionals find one another across disciplines, countries and sectors.
- Subscriber profiles with qualifications, experience, sector and country
- Search by profession, discipline, region or area of interest
- Publications, research and project history on every profile
- Directory listing is opt-in and controlled by each subscriber
Subscribers opt in on the application form. Listings appear once the application is approved and the subscription is paid.
Section 02
Discussion Forums
Moderated, non-commercial discussion forums where subscribers may exchange views on governance, banking, technology, ethics, infrastructure and education.
- Sector forums for each professional discipline
- Cross-disciplinary rooms for continental issues
- Expert-led discussions and Q&A threads
- Professional code of conduct applies to all contributions
Forums are included for paid-up subscribers and are not sold separately. Threads are moderated by the AAP team.
Section 03
Project Collaboration
Multidisciplinary teams formed around real African problems — because Africa's challenges are rarely solved by one profession alone.
- Infrastructure, mining, renewable energy and agriculture
- Healthcare, education and financial inclusion
- Technology, governance and public administration
- Entrepreneurship and environmental sustainability
Subscribers may propose a project or join an existing team through the AAP subscription team.
Section 04
Research Groups
Research shapes policy, and policy shapes societies. AAP research groups give subscribers a way to help create knowledge, not merely consume it.
- Banking, constitutional development and governance
- Artificial intelligence and emerging technology
- Education, healthcare and public administration
- Entrepreneurship and environmental sustainability
Research outputs may be published through OUBAS's Research Library where appropriate.
Section 05
Publications
A publishing channel for subscribers: knowledge becomes more valuable when it is shared, cited and built upon.
- Articles, technical papers and research reports
- Opinion pieces and case studies
- Innovation papers and practical guides
- Editorial review before publication
Submissions are reviewed by the AAP editorial panel. Authorship remains with the subscriber.
Section 06
Mentoring
Experienced professionals guiding those who follow — students, graduates, young entrepreneurs and early-career professionals.
- Mentor and mentee matching by discipline and region
- Structured career development conversations
- Support for students and young graduates
- Inter-generational knowledge transfer
Indicate mentoring interest in the participation section of the subscription application.
Section 07
Events
Continuous learning through a calendar of subscriber events, delivered online and in person across the continent.
- Webinars and expert discussions
- Workshops and professional forums
- Interviews with African leaders
- Conferences and regional gatherings
Event invitations are issued to paid-up subscribers by email.
Section 08
Subscriber Recognition
Professional excellence deserves recognition. AAP recognises contribution, leadership and service to the continent.
- Digital subscription certificates issued on payment
- Professional recognition badges
- Fellowship opportunities
- Awards for outstanding contributions and speaking invitations
Your digital subscription certificate is available from the Subscription Certificate tab once payment is confirmed.
